The East Jakarta City Administration authorities gathered stakeholders to address illegal parking issues along Jalan Matraman Raya, stretching from the Resort Police Headquarters to the Stamplat Bogor area.
The policy will be fully implemented on the ground
East Jakarta Vice Mayor Kusmanto stated that the administration will implement official parking regulations by installing signage indicating where parking is permitted. However, this policy is subject to a maximum limit of two rows of vehicles.
According to him, the policy refers to a 2018 memorandum from the Head of Jakarta Transportation Agency to the Governor regarding on-street parking regulations.
Kebayoran Baru Intensifies Illegal Parking Prevention for Nightlife Visitors"Any violations will be met with firm action by East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency personnel in collaboration with the police," he stated, Wednesday (4/29).
Prior to field implementation, he explained, further public outreach will be conducted for the community and business owners in the surrounding area. This step also involves coordination with shopping center managers, traditional market operators, and other relevant parties to prepare additional parking pockets.
"Once the outreach process is complete, the policy will be fully implemented on the ground," he clarified.
He noted that today's meeting involved various entities, including the Transportation Sub-agency, Satpol PP, Parking Management Unit, shopping center management, East Jakarta Resort Police, Perumda Pasar Jaya, and several other supporting regional agencies.
The parking reorganization is deemed crucial as the area is a high-density hub for public activity, featuring public facilities such as community health centers (Puskesmas), post offices, elementary schools, and houses of worship.
"We hope this policy can balance parking needs with smooth traffic flow and urban order," he concluded.
