Sport Facilities Lighting Needs Improvement

The lighting at sport facilities in Jakarta is remain low. As the result, areas like Lapangan Banteng and Rawamangun sport complex are darker at night.

It’s not safe to have activity in low light condition

Supardi (32), Pasar Baru resident, admitted he is not comfort for playing basketball at Lapangan Banteng at night. Low lighting also triggers crime.

“It’s not safe to have activity in low light condition,” he said, Thursday (6/9).

Meanwhile, Firmansyah Wahid, Jakarta Head Dept. of Sport and Youth, said his side has sent letter to related unit to install more lighting.

“Improving lighting is for the citizens’ comfort and safety,” he stated.

Responding about this, Yuli Hartono, Jakarta Head Dept. of Industry and Energy, explained his side is ready to install additional lighting. His side has proposed additional lighting in budget amendment.

“Our lighting stock is low. It is hoped our request could be agreed,” he explained.
