Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling (PPSU) personnel removed 300 sacks of waste and mud while cleaning a drainage channel on Jalan Satu Maret, RT 01/04, Pegadungan Urban Village, Kalideres, West Jakarta, on Thursday (5/7).
This cleanup is part of flood mitigation efforts
Pegadungan Urban Village Head Anugerah Sholiha Susilo said the cleanup was carried out to restore the channel's function after parts of it became clogged with waste and overgrown vegetation.
Drainage Channel on Jalan Gelora IX Undergoes Normalization"This cleanup is part of flood mitigation efforts. The channel has frequently caused flooding in nearby residential areas," she noted.
Anugerah explained that the cleanup of the 200-meter channel was carried out by seven PPSU personnel on Tuesday (5/5) and Wednesday (5/6).
"Today, the collected waste is being transported and the area around the site is being cleaned up," she said.
She hopes the cleanup will optimize the channel's function and prevent future flooding.
"We also urge residents not to throw waste into drainage channels, as it can block water flow and trigger flooding," she added.
