"Street lights on Jalan Laksamana Malahayati have now been relit as the repairs are complete," he expressed, Friday (5/8).

Benhard urged the public to help safeguard street lighting assets and other public facilities. He emphasized, the damage or theft of public facilities ultimately harms the community itself.

"When government assets are vandalized or stolen, the impact is felt directly by the residents. Hence, we ask for the community's cooperation in protecting these public facilities," he explained.

Meanwhile, Infrastructure, Facilities, Utility, and Public Street Lighting Section Head, Yanuar Ikhsan, explained that the assembly process for the K131 main panel network on Jalan Laksamana Malahayati involved 12 personnel.

"The street lights that were previously out use 200-watt LED SS lamps. All of them are now back to normal and lit," he noted.

He further mentioned that the perpetrators behind the theft of the main panel components have not yet been identified. The thieves did not only take panel components but also stripped the cables beneath the panel for their copper wire, leaving the cable insulation behind at the scene.

"I've instructed the Bina Marga Task Force in every sub-district to increase surveillance of street lighting facilities in their respective areas. If any act of theft is discovered, the perpetrators must be immediately secured and reported to the police to be processed according to the law," he concluded.
