"Regarding online gambling, the Jakarta Provincial Government fully supports the firm actions taken by law enforcement authorities, especially the police, in carrying out raids and confiscations," Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (5/13).

Pramono hoped the legal action against online gambling operators and activities would not be carried out half-heartedly so it could create a deterrent effect for others involved in similar activities in Jakarta.

He emphasized that online gambling activities clearly violate the law and do not have permits from the Jakarta Provincial Government. Therefore, the administration reaffirmed its support for police authorities to take firm action against online gambling perperators.

"The Jakarta Provincial Government fully supports any firm legal action or the harshest possible penalties imposed by law enforcement authorities against these perpetrators," he stressed.

Pramono added that online gambling has had severe negative impacts on people who become involved, particularly low-income residents attracted by promises of quick and multiplied profits.

"Online gambling has had a very negative impact, especially on uneducated and underprivileged residents who are tempted by promises that are actually very harmful," he said.
