LRT Phase 1B Project on Track for August 2026, Safety Remains Priority

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung ensured that safety remains the top priority in the construction of the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B Velodrome–Manggarai project.

Safety for the LRT and MRT is the top priority

Pramono made the statement in response to public concerns over the project's safety, given that full operations are targeted to begin in August 2026. He explained that the operational target had been set since the beginning of the project.

"Safety for the LRT and MRT is the top priority. Although the work is being accelerated, it is not really being rushed because full operations are scheduled to begin in August, and that target was set from the start," Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (5/13).

The Velodrome–Manggarai LRT route has now entered the commissioning or trial operation stage. The phase is considered important to ensure safety before the route begins full operations.

"That is why commissioning has already started. Commissioning means testing. During the testing process, aspects such as train formations and headway intervals are being evaluated," he explained.

Through the trial phase, Pramono expressed hope that the LRT service would be able to operate fully according to the targeted schedule.

"I hope that once it is inaugurated in August, it will be fully operational," he said.
