Pramono Inaugurates New Health Center to Expand Healthcare Outreach in Jakarta

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, officially inaugurated and inspected the new premises of the Meruya Selatan II Auxiliary Health Center in Kembangan Sub-district, West Jakarta, Monday (5/18).

All the facilities are in excellent condition

The development of this healthcare facility underscores the Jakarta government’s unwavering commitment to expanding public access to nearby, high-quality medical services.

Pramono noted that the health center serves an average of 80 to 100 patients daily. He expressed his appreciation for the state-of-the-art condition of the newly constructed building.

"I observed that nearly all the facilities are in excellent condition, and the public sentiment has been overwhelmingly positive regarding the quality of service provided," he explained.

Beyond providing medical care, this health center serves as a constructive social hub for senior residents. He mentioned that the elderly utilize the facility as a communal space for physical exercise and social interaction.

"I hope that the healthcare demands of Jakarta's residents will be increasingly well-met and served with the highest standards of excellence," he added.

Currently, Jakarta operates 31 hospitals—with two more slated for construction—alongside 44 community health centers and 292 auxiliary health centers. This robust infrastructure is designed to deliver premier healthcare services to the citizenry.

Notably, the Meruya Selatan II Auxiliary Health Center is staffed by 17 healthcare professionals, including two general practitioners, two dentists, midwives, and nurses. The facility caters to residents across four neighboring community units (RW).

Pramono emphasized that auxiliary health centers also play a pivotal role in reducing the number of slum areas in Jakarta, fostering a healthier, cleaner, and more organized urban environment. According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the number of slum-categorized community units in Jakarta has declined sharply from 445 RWs in 2017 to 211 this year.
