The Jakarta Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture (KPKP) Agency continues to intensify health inspections of sacrificial animals at several Temporary Sacrificial Animal Shelters (TPnHK) ahead of Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijri.
Most of the animals are in healthy condition
The inspections are being carried out to ensure that animals being sold are healthy, fit, and safe for sacrifice.
18,575 Sacrificial Animals Inspected in South JakartaJakarta KPKP Agency Head Hasudungan Sidabalok stated that 41,833 sacrificial animals had been inspected at 467 TPnHK locations throughout Jakarta as of May 20, 2026.
"The inspections covered 17,910 cattle, 80 buffaloes, 20,323 goats, and 3,534 sheep across 467 TPnHK locations," he said on Thursday (5/21).
He explained that, in general, the sacrificial animals examined were in healthy condition. However, officers still found several animals experiencing minor health issues caused by fatigue during transportation to Jakarta.
"Most of the animals are in healthy condition, and any illnesses found are generally minor and caused by travel fatigue. The Jakarta KPKP Agency also continues to conduct routine monitoring and regular inspections to ensure the health of sacrificial animals is maintained until Eid al-Adha," he asserted.
