Repairs Initiated Following Road Collapse in Lenteng Agung

The road collapse on Jalan Raya Lenteng Agung, Srengseng Sawah, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, is currently undergoing repairs.

On-site, the South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency (SDA) has deployed an excavator to assist in the removal of debris and collapsed materials.

Jagakarsa Sub-district SDA Executing Unit Head, Sartono explained that the road collapse was first identified on Thursday night (28/5).

According to him, the incident was caused by a connecting channel (Phb) running from the University of Indonesia (UI) to the Ciliwung River, which could no longer withstand the load due to the high volume of material eroded by the water flow.

"We immediately initiated response efforts while coordinating with the relevant authorities," he expressed, Friday (5/29).

He noted that the sinkhole measures about three meters in both depth and width, extending for 16 meters.

"Due to the length of the affected area, we are deploying steel plates to bear the vehicle load and mitigate the risk of further landslides inside the channel," he explained.

Upon completion of the repairs, the team will work with the Bina Marga Sub-agency to repave the street.

According to him, the road was paved yesterday, but because it is the sole access point, motorists drove over it before the asphalt was completely set, even though warning signs were in place.

Bina Marga Executing Unit Acting Head, Nelson added that his team is currently awaiting the completion of the drainage repairs. Once finalized, personnel will immediately proceed with the repaving to restore normal traffic flow.

"We are putting in our utmost effort. Hopefully, the entire project can be completed in the near future," he concluded.
