The West Jakarta Food Security, Maritime Affairs and Agriculture (KPKP) Sub-agency, from Wednesday (5/27) to Thursday (5/27), has conducted health checks on 2,494 sacrificial animals slaughtered at 125 locations.

122.14 kilograms of discarded sacrificial animal parts

Head Section of Animal Husbandry and Health of the Sub-agency, Tanti said health checks on sacrificial animals at the slaughter location were carried out until Friday (5/29) today.

North Jakarta KPKP Rejects 70.9 Kilograms of Sacrificial Animal Organs

"As of yesterday evening, 41 sick animals were found, as well as 122.14 kilograms of discarded sacrificial animal parts," she said, Friday (5/29).

Tanti explained that the parts of the sacrificial animal that are rejected consist of the lungs, liver, spleen, heart, head, feet, kidneys and others.

"The rejected part is damaged by disease so it is not suitable for consumption," she added.

Various animal diseases are caused by microorganisms such as lung bacteria and liver fluke parasites. Exposure to vehicle exhaust can also cause the lungs to develop black traces of anthracosis (carbon deposits), making them unfit for consumption.

In addition to postmortem health checks on sacrificial animals, Tanti explained, her team also examined blood samples and conducted swab tests at five locations.

"Thank God, most of the sacrificial animals are in good health and in general it can be said that most of them are still fit for consumption," she stated.
