Jakarta Waives Motor Vehicle Tax Fines and Title Transfer Fees

The Jakarta government has reintroduced a regional tax relaxation policy, offering a waiver of administrative sanctions for Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) and Motor Vehicle Title Transfer Fees (BBNKB).

The government is offering a more manageable way to fulfill vehicle tax obligations

This policy is issued to commemorate Jakarta's 499th Anniversary and Indonesia's 81st Independence Day, while simultaneously facilitating the public in fulfilling their tax obligations.

Effective from June 1 to August 31, 2026, the waiver of administrative sanctions for PKB and BBNKB covers interest penalties arising from late tax payments or deposits.

Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) Head, Lusiana Herawati noted that the initiative underscores the Jakarta government's commitment to enhancing service accessibility and public welfare.

"During this special moment for Jakarta’s residents, the government is offering a more manageable way to fulfill vehicle tax obligations by waiving administrative penalties," she expressed, Monday (6/1).

She explained that no application is necessary to receive this benefit, as the administrative sanction waiver is granted automatically by the system during the transaction.

The Jakarta government will continue to strive toward delivering policies that provide public benefits and support the residents' quality of life. She further noted that participation through local tax payments plays a vital role in the city's development.

"Hope they can make the most of this waiver program throughout its duration," she explained.

As a point of information, this initiative is set forth in the Bapenda Decree No. e-0018/2026, which details the ex officio administrative sanction relief for PKB and BBNKB.
