Prime Area Arrangement on Jalan Salon Reaches 60 Percent

The progress of the second quarter's superior area arrangement on Jalan Salon, RT 09/03, Sukapura Urban Village, Cilincing District, North Jakarta has reached 60 percent.

targeted for completion in mid-June

Head of Sukapura Urban Village, Mursani said the arrangement is carried out because the area previously looked slum. Besides being covered in vandalism, the location was also frequently used by residents to store carts and used goods.

"We took the initiative to transform this area into a public space that is educational, comfortable and good looking," he said, Wednesday (6/3).

He explained that the work included cleaning the water channels and creating a 50-meter-long, 1.5-meter-high mural. The area is also beautified with various types of ornamental plants to create a more beautiful atmosphere.

"A mural with the theme of Jakarta City's Anniversary will also be added to beautify and enliven the area," he explained.

According to him, the arrangement activities have begun since last April with the involvement of six Public Infrastructure and Facilities Management (PPSU) officers and support from local residents.

"The work is targeted for completion in mid-June," he added.

Through this arrangement, Mursani hopes that public awareness in maintaining environmental cleanliness will increase.

Meanwhile, one of the local residents, Rasyid (42), stated murals and greenery make the environment neater and more beautiful. Furthermore, Jalan Salon provides a frequently used alternative access route.

"The environment is now much more comfortable. We are committed to maintaining this improvement by refraining from graffiti on the walls or littering," he admitted.
