High Public Enthusiasm Marks Muharram Festival at Bendera Pusaka Park

The 1448 Hijri Muharram Festival, held at Bendera Pusaka Park in Kramat Pela, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, has successfully captivated the public's attention.

"The festivities, which began yesterday, feature a diverse array of religious activities scheduled daily from 4 PM to 9:30 PM. Running from June 14 to 15, 2026, the festival hosts several prominent national figures to deliver spiritual sermons (tausiah), including the renowned Ustaz Jojo and Akri Patrio.

Additionally, the entertainment stage was graced by a stellar lineup of renowned religious performers, featuring acclaimed artists such as Opick, Fatin Shidqia, Haddad Alwi, Snada, and Jakarta Happy Voices, as well as Jaz Hayat.

Visitors were also treated to an array of captivating visual spectacles, ranging from immersive video mapping and water projections to a rich culinary experience at the Halal Food Festival area.

The event garnered praise from Ricky Fernando, a 26-year-old resident of Kebayoran Baru.

He noted that the celebration serves as a testament to the Jakarta government’s commitment—under the leadership of Governor Pramono Anung and Vice Governor Rano Karno—to upholding the core values of interfaith tolerance.

"As it happens, my residence is in close proximity to the venue, and I was particularly keen on seeing Opick perform. Even though his set is scheduled for the evening, my partner and I arrived as early as the afternoon to fully immerse ourselves in the entire breadth of the festivities," he remarked, Monday (6/15).

Alisha (22) also echoed this sentiment, noting that she knew the Muharram Festival via Instagram. After reviewing the publicized itinerary, she was prompted to attend the event’s inaugural day

"Up until now, I have only ever experienced Opick’s music through video recordings, so I was eager to witness his performance in person. Moreover, the fact that the event is free of charge makes it an incredibly compelling attraction," she admitted.

She expressed her aspiration for similar events to be established as a recurring annual fixture. Beyond its entertainment value, she noted that such religious commemorations serve to heighten public consciousness regarding the profound significance and spiritual importance of these milestones.

"I understand that this event is an integral component of the series of commemorations marking Jakarta’s 499th Anniversary. I hope to see such events further refined and staged with even greater splendor. Surely, the public will increasingly embrace and cherish festivities of this nature," she asserted.
