Education Agency: Student Admissions to be Objective, Transparent, and Inclusive
Reported by Aldi Geri Lumban Tobing | Translated by Nugroho Adibrata
The Jakarta government officially launched the Student Admission System (SPMB) for the 2026/2027 academic year on Monday (6/15).
Every child across Jakarta is afforded the same opportunity to receive a quality education
This year’s enrollment covers the entire spectrum of public education, from early childhood and primary levels to secondary, vocational, special education, and non-formal learning centers (SKB). The program also features the 'Collaborative SPMB' scheme with the private sector and a 'Government-Funded Private School' initiative, aimed at providing tuition-free education through state funding.
Regarding the operational framework, registration for public primary, junior high, senior high, and vocational schools, as well as the Joint SPMB, will be conducted entirely online. In contrast, enrollment for Early Childhood Education (PAUD), Special Education (SLB), and Community Learning Centers (SKB) will utilize a hybrid system (online and offline). Meanwhile, registration for the Tuition-Free Private School program will be held exclusively through offline channels.
SPMB Implementation Guaranteed to be Objective and TransparentThe 2026/2027 cycle features four admission pathways: merit, affirmation, residency, and transfer. The merit pathway caters to students with documented academic or non-academic excellence, whereas the affirmation pathway is dedicated to supporting students from underprivileged families.
Meanwhile, the residency-based track takes into account the proximity of the student's home to the school and the distribution of school capacity. In contrast, the transfer pathway caters to students whose parents are undergoing workplace relocation, alongside the children of educators and administrative staff.
Jakarta Education Agency (Disdik) Head, Nahdiana stated that this year’s SPMB enrollment capacity encompasses hundreds of thousands of seats across public educational institutions.
Further, the government has partnered with 298 private schools through the 'Joint SPMB' initiative and 103 schools under the 'Tuition-Free Private School' program to broaden educational accessibility for the public.
She highlighted that the current admission cycle is underpinned by the principles of being objective, transparent, accountable, equitable, and strictly non-discriminatory.
"Our priority is to guarantee that every child across Jakarta is afforded the same opportunity to receive a quality education," she expressed, Monday (6/15).
Nahdiana underscored that the SPMB 2026/2027 is free of cost and maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward gratuities of any kind, pursuant to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Circular Letter No. 7/2026.
She encouraged the community to follow every stage of the process in compliance with the established guidelines and to rely solely on official updates issued by the Education Agency.
"Residents are urged to carefully scrutinize the applicable schedule and regulations, and to remain vigilant against any information that does not originate from the Education Agency's official channels," she added.
