Spearheaded by the East Jakarta Food Security, Maritime, and Agriculture (KPKP) Sub-agency, this event is part of the celebrations for Jakarta’s 499th anniversary and serves as a platform to bolster urban food security.
According to him, EastJakFest is a key catalyst for showcasing how urban agriculture, fisheries, animal husbandry, animal health, and community-based entrepreneurship are integral to Jakarta’s transition into a sustainable global city.

Munjirin pointed out that ensuring food security goes beyond government efforts. It requires the robust participation of all stakeholders—business leaders, academics, communities, and the media—to build a common consciousness that food security is achievable starting from our own neighborhoods.
He noted that urban farming has evolved beyond mere cultivation into a strategic pillar for building a resilient, healthy, green, and sustainable urban environment.
"By leveraging the synergy of all stakeholders, East Jakarta stands ready to support Jakarta’s transformation into a global city underpinned by strong food security," he elaborated.
East Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Head, Taufik Yulianto added that EastJakFest 2026 serves not only as an educational tool for the public but also as a platform for economic empowerment through the development of food-based MSMEs and the promotion of Jakpreneur’s flagship products.
"This event also aims to bolster animal health services and enhance food safety for the people of East Jakarta," he explained.
He explained that EastJakFest, now in its second year, features a wide array of engaging and educational activities.
"The event showcases products from Jakpreneur-mentored entrepreneurs, involving several sub-agencies, including Food Security (KPKP), Industry and Trade (PPKUKM), Social, Tourism and Creative Economy, Manpower and Transmigration, and Child Protection (PPAPP)," he detailed.
Additionally, visitors can explore various attractions ranging from the 'Pasar Tumbuh' market and plant-based food rapid testing to urban farming workshops and FGDs. The festival also offers book reviews, plant clinics, rabies vaccinations, cat sterilizations, MSME bazaars, and lively cooking competitions.
"This event becomes a collaborative hub uniting the government, business leaders, communities, and the public in cultivating a resilient urban food security ecosystem, while also fostering the economic prosperity of East Jakarta’s citizens," he stated.
