Hundreds of Taxi Drivers Block Ancol Main Entrance Gate

Disappointed with Taman Impian Jaya Ancol (TIJA) management policy that charges entry levy to particular taxi drivers, hundreds of taxi drivers incorporated in Jakarta Front Transportation (Frontjak) block Ancol main entrance by parking their taxis right in front of the gate. As a result, the visitors are directed to enter the tourism site through another entrance gate.

Previously, there was no such policy, taxi drivers could go in and out Ancol freely without having to pay levy. The policy was just implemented a week ago

“Previously, there was no such policy, taxi drivers could go in and out Ancol freely without having to pay levy. The policy was just implemented a week ago,” said Frontjak General Secretary, Yanto, Thursday (5/1).

According to Yanto, this entry levy policy is burdening the taxi drivers because they have to pay Rp 20,000 to enter Ancol although without passenger on board.

FTJ Demands Ancol to Abolish Entry Levy

“Today, 300 of our members are blocking Ancol’s main entrance gate. TIJA management had met us earlier and said there would be certainty tomorrow,” he told.

Meanwhile, PT Taman Impian Jaya Ancol Corporate Communication Manager, Meiti Yan Harahap, uttered that this action is only misunderstanding because the policy is applied to control the taxis entering Ancol area.

“Taxi companies please fill in the forms we provided to enter Ancol without tickets. We do this step for the convenience of our visitors as well,” she stated.

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, as many as 100 policemen from Pademangan Sector Police are deployed to safeguard this action.
