Heading to Jakarta’s 499th Anniversary? Check Out These Traffic Diversions!

The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has prepared traffic diversions to support the peak celebration of Jakarta's 499th Anniversary, themed 'Towards Jakarta’s 5th Century,' this Saturday (6/27).

We’ve arranged phased traffic diversions, alternative routes, and parking zones

The festivities will light up the Bundaran HI area, Central Jakarta, starting from 3 PM until 10 PM.

Jakarta Transportation Agency Head, Budi Awaluddin, said these traffic measures are key to a smooth event and hassle-free mobility for the public.

To back this up, 475 personnel will be on the ground, handling everything from traffic control and security to providing direct assistance to residents during the grand finale.

“We’ve arranged phased traffic diversions, alternative routes, and parking zones, backed by personnel and public transport support to keep things moving,” he expressed, Friday (6/26).

From 2 PM to 11 PM, traffic rerouting will hit key roads near the festivities, including MH Thamrin, Sudirman (HI–Dukuh Atas), and surrounding streets like Kotabumi and Teluk Betung. However, it is business as usual for Jalan Kebon Sirih and Jalan KH Wahid Hasyim, which remain open to traffic in both directions.

Here are the alternative routes you can take during the festivities:

1. North (Harmoni) to South (Semanggi): Take Jalan Hayam Wuruk – Jalan Ir. H. Juanda – U-turn at the Veteran III intersection – Jalan Ir. H. Juanda – Jalan Suryapranoto – Jalan Balikpapan – Jalan Cideng Timur – Jalan KH Mas Mansyur – Jalan Prof. Dr. Satrio – U-turn – Jalan Jenderal Sudirman and continue.

2. North (Harmoni) to East (Tugu Tani): Take Jalan Ir. H. Juanda – Jalan Pos – Jalan Gedung Kesenian – Jalan Lapangan Banteng Utara – Jalan Lapangan Banteng Barat – Jalan Pejambon – Jalan M.I. Ridwan Rais and continue

3. East (Tugu Tani) to North (Harmoni): Take Jalan M.I. Ridwan Rais – Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur – Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara – Jalan Majapahit and continue

4. East (Tugu Tani) to West (Tanah Abang): Take Jalan M.I. Ridwan Rais – Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan – Jalan Budi Kemuliaan – Jalan Abdul Muis – Jalan Fachrudin and continue

5. East (Menteng) to West (Tanah Abang): Take Jalan Imam Bonjol – Jalan Agus Salim – Jalan KH Wahid Hasyim – Jalan KH Mas Mansyur and continue; OR take Jalan Imam Bonjol – Jalan Agus Salim – Jalan Kebon Sirih – Jalan Fachrudin and continue

6. South (Semanggi) to North (Harmoni): Take Jalan Jenderal Sudirman – Jalan KH Mas Mansyur – Jalan Cideng Barat – Jalan Suryopranoto and continue. Alternatively, take Jalan Jenderal Sudirman – Jalan Karet Pasar Baru Timur III – Jalan Karet Pasar Baru Timur II – Jalan R.M. Margono Djojohadikoesoemo – Jalan KH Mas Mansyur – Jalan Cideng Barat – Jalan Suryopranoto and continue

7. West (Tanah Abang) to East (Gambir Station): Take Jalan Abdul Muis – Jalan Budi Kemuliaan – Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan – Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur and continue

8. West (Tanah Abang) to East (Tugu Tani): Take Jalan Jati Baru Raya – Jalan Kebon Sirih and continue; or take Jalan Fachrudin – Jalan KH Wahid Hasyim – Jalan Agus Salim – Jalan Kebon Sirih and continue

"To avoid the crowds near the event, we encourage everyone to plan ahead, adjust their travel schedules, and take advantage of the alternative routes,” he added.

It’s not just the roads—Transjakarta services passing through the venue will also see situational operational shifts to keep the city moving during the celebration.

Transjakarta Route Alert (3 PM – 10 PM):

• Route 1 (Blok M–Kota): Detour via Corridors 13 & 9

• Route 6B (Ragunan–City Hall): Shortened to Semanggi

• Route 9D (Pasar Minggu–Tanah Abang): Rerouted via Slipi

• Route 1B (Palmerah St.–Dukuh Atas): Shortened to Gerbang Pemuda

• Routes 6A, 1N, & 1P: Non-operational from 5 AM to 3 PM

"We encourage drivers to bypass the affected routes, adhere to the traffic regulations, and follow the guidance of our on-site personnel. Above all, please keep safety as your top priority behind the wheel,” he stated.
