Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasized that the Jakarta government is ready to facilitate and provide full support for the hosting of the PON XXII 2028 in NTT and NTB.
Jakarta will act as a support system
The statement above was made by Pramono when he attended the inauguration and induction ceremony of Jakarta KONI Chairman Hidayat Humaid and the board of officials for the 2026-2030 term.
"Jakarta will act as a support system, backing those regions that lack the necessary venues to hold PON competitions," he said, at Balai Agung Great Hall, Jakarta City Hall, Friday (6/26).
Jakarta Steps Up to the Plate as PON 2028’s Support SystemHe noted that Jakarta has been officially tasked by the Minister of Youth and Sports to assist facility-strapped regions, prioritizing cost-efficiency.
"Following the President's instructions, we must avoid wasteful spending. He is against building brand-new venues or stadiums that would only serve a temporary purpose," he continued.
Jakarta boasts 36 central government-managed sports facilities, while the Jakarta government provides an additional 220 competition-ready venues across its five administrative cities.
"We have 220 venues ready for use in Jakarta's five administrative areas, and that’s not counting the venues owned by the private sector," he continued.
Setting his sights on victory, Pramono aims for Jakarta to emerge as the overall champion of the PON XXII. He tasked Jakarta KONI with fortifying athlete training and ensuring a solid regeneration pipeline.
"Every detail—technical and non-technical alike—must be polished and well-prepared, Mr. Humaid," he emphasized.
He also requested that all sports facilities owned by Jakarta be utilized optimally as training grounds for athletes.
"I hope we become the undisputed overall champions," he stressed.
Jakarta KONI Chairman, Hidayat Humaid confirmed his commitment to winning the overall championship at the PON 2028 for Jakarta.
"With a clear mission and steadfast commitment, we are focused on one goal: bringing the overall victory back to the capital at the PON 2028," he explained.
He requested the full backing of the city government, businesses, and residents to secure Jakarta's overall win. Further, he emphasized that Jakarta KONI remains dedicated to the rigorous training and development of high-performance athletes.
"So, let us align our actions, combine our energy, and solidify our resolve to bring Jakarta back to the top spot in national sports," he declared.
