Utilitas Kabel Udara di Jakarta Barat Telah Diputus

Over 11 Kilometers of Overhead Utility Cables Removed in West Jakarta

The West Jakarta Public Works Sub-agency continues to relocate overhead utility cables along major roads across the city.

Every cable removal is carefully assessed based on several considerations

Since 2023 through mid-2026, a total of 11,065 meters of overhead utility cables at various locations have been removed.

City Council Demands Swift Undergrounding of Overhead Utility Cables

Abdul Jabbar, Acting Head of Road and Bridge Section at the West Jakarta Public Works Sub-agency, said the work is being carried out under the utility relocation program, which relocates overhead cables into box culverts before removing the existing cables.

"The work is being carried out in phases, and every cable removal is carefully assessed based on several considerations," he asserted, on Friday (6/26).

Abdul explained that in 2023, the program targeted five roads—Jalan Srengseng Raya, Jalan Kelapa Dua Raya, Jalan Raya Pos Pengumben, Jalan Joglo Raya, and Jalan Swadarma Raya—resulting 5,744 meters of utility lines were relocated underground, with the corresponding overhead cables removed.

In 2024, the program expanded to five additional roads: Jalan Syahdan, Jalan Tanjung Duren Barat, Jalan Kemanggisan Raya, Jalan Thaisir, and Jalan Sulaiman. A total of 3,800 meters of overhead cables were relocated and removed.

For 2025, the relocation program is being carried out across 12 roads in six segments, covering a combined cable length of 11,460 meters. The first segment includes Jalan Pilar Raya and Jalan Kedoya Pesing, spanning 1,250 meters.

The second segment covers Jalan Peta Barat, Jalan Peta Utara, Jalan Utan Jati, and Jalan Peta Selatan, with a combined length of approximately 6,087 meters. Of that total, about 1,521 meters of overhead cables have so far been relocated underground.

The third segment includes Jalan Kembangan Raya, Jalan Puri Kembangan, and Jalan Kembangan Baru, covering approximately 4,729 meters. The remaining segments include Jalan Brigjen Katamso (1,658 meters), Jalan Meruya Selatan (1,057 meters), and Jalan Kusuma (1,550 meters).

Meanwhile, the 2026 relocation program will cover four segments with a combined cable length of 7,960 meters. The segments include Jalan Benda Raya (2,500 meters), Jalan Tomang Raya (2,300 meters), Jalan KS Tubun (860 meters), and Jalan Joglo Raya together with Jalan H. Muchtar Raya (2,300 meters).

Abdul added that cable removal in 2026 will continue for utilities relocated under the 2025 program, with a target of removing the remaining 11,460 meters of overhead cables.

"All overhead cables associated with the 2023 and 2024 relocation programs have already been removed. For the 2025 program, removal has only reached about 25 percent in the second segment, with the remaining overhead cables to be taken down in stages," he said.
