Pramono Says Grogol River Management is a Role Model for Other Regions

The Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, reviewed the construction process of infrastructure and facilities for the Grogol River, Kemanggisan Segment in West Jakarta, Thursday (7/2).

The project involves the construction of retaining walls on the east and west sides of the Grogol River to maintain the stability of the riverbanks and prevent landslides.

Pramono also appreciated the development in this area, which is also considered a role model for slum arrangement and flood management.

"I would like to express my appreciation. This is an example of a role model for problem solving in the field," said Pramono.

After the construction of facilities and landscaping in the area is completed, Pramono emphasized the need for no more illegal buildings in the area. Therefore, he instructed the West Jakarta City Government to work together to maintain the area.

"No one is allowed to build illegal buildings on this road," he added.

Pramono also asked the relevant ranks to build parks and carry out greening in this area.

Head of Jakarta Water Resources Agency, Ika Agustin Ningrum stated the total budget prepared for this project is around Rp 62 billion, with a multi-year scheme from 2025 to December 2026.

"The budget has been provided until December 2026 for this segment with a length of approximately 1,072 meters," she stated.

Before this project was carried out, the agency had dredged the Grogol River to a depth of about one meter.

Previously, flooding frequently occurred in this area due to overflowing Grogol River. Furthermore, several sections of the Grogol River banks are at risk of landslides.

Therefore, the construction of retaining walls is carried out to maintain the stability of river banks and prevent landslides, as well as protect against flooding.
