Tendean Bridge Set for Removal Following Major Truck Collision

The Tendean Pedestrian Bridge (JPO) has suffered severe structural damage after being struck by a truck carrying heavy machinery early Tuesday morning (7/14) at approximately 1:30 AM.

Emergency teams are currently on-site for evacuation. For everyone’s safety, the bridge is officially out of service until further notice, as authorities prepare to dismantle the structure.

Jakarta Bina Marga's Data and Information Center, Siti Dinarwenny stated that a technical analysis revealed severe damage to the bridge's columns and girders, making it unsalvageable.

"To ensure public safety, Bina Marga will proceed with a total take-down of the bridge starting today," she confirmed, Tuesday (7/14).

She explained that Jakarta Bina Marga Agency is teaming up with the Transportation Agency (Dishub) and the police to manage traffic while the bridge is being taken down.

Bina Marga urges everyone to stay alert and avoid the Tendean area for now. To beat the traffic, please use alternative routes and plan your commute ahead of time

Road users are reminded to stay vigilant, steer clear of the site, and use alternative routes for the time being.

"We truly appreciate everyone’s understanding and cooperation during this process. Public safety and security remain our number one priority," she concluded.
