Reducing Cancer, Free Mammography Service Provided in South Jakarta

The South Jakarta Health Sub-agency collaborated with the local Family Empowerment and Welfare Movement Team (TP PKK) and the Indonesian Breast Cancer Foundation (YKPI) to organize free mammography screening services.

Record breast cancer-free rates

Head of South Jakarta Health Sub-agency, Debi Intan Suri said this activity is part of the government's efforts to reduce morbidity due to breast cancer and cervical cancer through early detection.

"YKPI provides mobile mammography services. Participants are local residents, PKK members, and civil servants within the South Jakarta City Government," she said, Wednesday (7/15).

Debi explained that the examination will take place on July 15-16, 2026, with a quota of 50 participants each day. On the second day, services will focus on civil servants within the South Jakarta City Government.

"This activity is being conducted simultaneously to record breast cancer-free rates, which will reflect the level of breast health in South Jakarta. Hopefully, the results will be positive and the numbers will remain low," he added.

Debi hopes that through mammography examinations, breast cancer cases that have previously gone unnoticed or undetected can be discovered at an early stage, thus increasing the chance of recovery.

"We want this program to be implemented more frequently in various areas of South Jakarta so that women who have risk factors can receive early detection and immediate treatment," she added.

Meanwhile, the Chairwoman of the South Jakarta TP PKK, Azizah Syafrin, stated that the activity provided great benefits for the community, especially women, to find out their health condition through early examinations.

Azizah hopes all participants are expected to achieve positive results. Mammogram results are scheduled to be received approximately two weeks after the examination.

"Cancer remains a serious threat. We hope to see more free screenings and treatment activities to support early detection," she hoped.
