South Jakarta Public Works Tidies Overhead Cables on Jalan Lauser

The South Jakarta Public Works Sub-agency personnel have organized and tidied overhead utility cables along Jalan Lauser, Gunung Urban Village, Kebayoran Baru Sub-district, to improve road safety and beautify the area.

South Jakarta Public Works Sub-agency Public Street Lighting (PSUKPJU) staff member Cerah Dwi said the work focused on utility cables crossing the roadway to ensure a minimum vertical clearance of five meters.

"The work is being carried out to prevent potential safety hazards, particularly for motorists traveling along this road," Dwi highlighted on Thursday (7/16).

He explained that personnel also reorganized utility cables on both sides of the sidewalks to maintain a minimum clearance of four meters, improving safety and comfort for pedestrians.

"The work begins with measurements using a height gauge to ensure all cables meet the required clearance standards," he asserted.

According to Dwi, the clearance requirements follow Public Works Ministry Regulation No. 20/PRT/M/2010 on Guidelines for the Utilization of Road Areas, which sets technical standards for utility network clearances along roads.

"We are coordinating with utility network operators, including PT Telkom Indonesia and PT PLN (Persero), to ensure the work is carried out effectively," he said.

Dwi added that damaged or substandard PLN utility poles will be replaced, while leaning poles will be straightened and repositioned to improve the safety, reliability, and appearance of utility networks along Jalan Lauser.

"We hope this utility cable reorganization will make the area safer, more comfortable, and more visually appealing," he said.

Meanwhile, RW 08 Head of Gunung Urban Village, Dirwantoro, expressed appreciation for the South Jakarta Public Works Sub-agency and related agencies for reorganizing utility cables in the neighborhood.

He said cable clearance should be monitored regularly, and cable installations on utility poles should be properly managed to keep the area neat and orderly.

"Thankfully, the cables are now much neater and positioned higher. Hopefully, there won't be any more broken cables, as occurred some time ago," he stressed.
