Residential Environmental Channels in Penggilingan Revitalized

The Blue Troops of the Water Resources (SDA) Implementation Unit of Cakung District, East Jakarta carried out revitalization of the water channel in Haji Mustopa Alley, Jalan Pisangan, RT 10/11, Penggilingan Urban Village, Cakung District.

Head of the Unit, Dian Nur Cahyono said the channel revitalization is carried out along 45 meters using a 40x40x120 centimeter U-ditch equipped with a concrete cover slab.

"Work began on July 17, 2026, with the deployment of 11 Blue Troop personnel," he said.

According to him, the channel revitalization progress has reached approximately 55 percent. Work is targeted for completion by the end of July.

He added that a crane type heavy equipment unit is also deployed to assist in the U-ditch installation process.

"The excavation process is carried out manually by personnel," he added.

He hopes that after the revitalization is complete, the channel will function more optimally in flowing water, thereby helping to reduce the potential for flooding in the area, especially during heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, a member of LMK RW 11, Penggilingan Urban Village, Bagjo assessed that the previous condition of the channel was not able to provide optimal water flow function because its dimensions were relatively small.

"Previously, this channel was not wide enough to meet standards, only about 20-25 centimeters," he admitted.

Bagjo continued, saying that the revitalization using larger U-ditches and concrete covers is expected to provide real benefits to the community and improve the quality of the residential environment.

"Hopefully this water channel will function more optimally, especially in preventing flooding," he hoped.
