South Jakarta Launches Safe, Healthy, and Literate Children Movement

South Jakarta Mayor Syafrin Liputo officially launched the Safe, Healthy, and Literate South Jakarta Children Movement, an initiative aimed at enforcing zero tolerance for all forms of violence, bullying, and harassment against children.

Syafrin emphasized that schools should be safe, welcoming, inclusive, and enjoyable environments where every child is respected, heard, and given equal opportunities to grow.

"Today marks the start of this movement. It is not merely a ceremonial event, but a concrete initiative that will be carried out regularly in junior high schools, senior high schools, and vocational high schools, both public and private, across South Jakarta," he said during the launch at SMAN 28 Jakarta in Pasar Minggu on Monday (7/27).

Through the initiative, Syafrin encouraged students to adopt six positive habits: stopping bullying, rejecting harassment, maintaining good mental health, living a healthy lifestyle, saying no to premarital sex, and using digital technology responsibly.

He said these six principles would help equip children to grow into healthy, resilient, and well-rounded individuals who are ready to face future challenges.

"Let us work together to make South Jakarta a city that is safe for children, healthy for teenagers, and rich in a culture of literacy. Children who feel safe will grow up confident. Healthy children will achieve success. Children who love reading and learning will be ready to lead the future," he asserted.

Meanwhile, Jakarta Empowerment, Child Protection, and Population Control (PPAPP) Agency Head Dwi Oktavia described the initiative as an innovative approach to integrating violence prevention, mental health, adolescent reproductive health, literacy, and digital literacy education into a single, sustainable school-based program.

"Child protection cannot begin only after a case occurs. More importantly, we must build a strong prevention system through families, schools, and communities. I commend the South Jakarta Administration for initiating this movement," she added.
