Pramono Targets Tendean Bridge Groundbreaking This August 2026

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has set a target to begin the reconstruction of the Tendean Pedestrian Bridge (JPO) in South Jakarta this month.

Preparation is currently underway

He expressed his commitment to completing the work swiftly to enhance accessibility and safety for commuters.

"Preparation is currently underway. We hope to break ground within the month and complete the Tendean JPO as soon as possible," he expressed, at Jakarta City Hall, Thursday (8/6).

He further clarified that the reconstruction of the Tendean JPO will not use the City Budget (APBD). Instead, the city has secured alternative funding through Floor Area Ratio (KLB) compensation—a scheme involving private developer contributions.

"We are using KLB funds to build the bridge. It won't draw from the APBD," he explained.

To maintain pedestrian flow during the interim, the city has installed a pelican crossing as a temporary replacement. This facility is already operational and accessible to the public.

"As I mentioned following the incident, we have opened a pelican crossing for pedestrians, and it is currently functioning well," he explained.

Previously, the South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency confirmed that the pelican crossing on Jalan Kapten Tendean, Mampang Prapatan, has been operational since Tuesday (7/28).

To complement the crossing, the agency has also installed Traffic Signal Control Devices (APILL) to effectively regulate the intervals between vehicular traffic and pedestrian crossing times.
