East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency Takes Action Against Illegal Terminals

The East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency has taken firm action against unauthorized bus terminals, including one in the Pangkalan Jati area on Jalan Jatiwaringin, Cipinang Melayu Urban Village, Makasar District.

Involved 25 joint personnel

Head of the Sub-agency, Harlem Simanjuntak said public transport vehicles found waiting and picking up passengers at that location are subject to enforcement action.

"During the enforcement operation conducted last night through the early hours of this morning, we found three public transport vehicles violating regulations. Officers from the East Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit immediately issued traffic violation citations," he said, Wednesday (8/12).

Harlem explained that the enforcement action was a response to public complaints regarding an unauthorized terminal that was causing traffic congestion due to the large number of public transport vehicles idling in the area.

"The enforcement operation involved 25 joint personnel," he added.

He urged the public to use official terminals for boarding and alighting from public transport to better ensure safety and comfort.

"We will conduct periodic on-site monitoring, particularly from night until the early hours of the morning. If violations are still found, officers will take firm action against vehicles that persist in waiting for and picking up passengers," he admitted.
