Joint Personnel Beautify Jakarta’s Flagship Sudirman Road for August 17

Jakarta is gearing up for the 81st Independence Day with a fresh look. Around 100 joint personnel were deployed to repaint the bike lane separators on the iconic Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Senayan, Thursday (8/13).

It’s a great move

Kebayoran Baru Sub-district Head, Rachmat Mulyadi explained this project is about more than just aesthetics; it is about keeping the city’s heart vibrant and well-maintained. Given its status as the face of the capital, the Sudirman area requires constant care and collaboration.

The vibrant new paint also serves a critical safety function. By making the dividers more visible, the city aims to prevent accidents and ensure a smooth flow for motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists alike after dark.

He explained that the repainting effort mobilized approximately 100 joint personnel, including PPSU, Water Resources Sub-agency, and Bina Marga Sub-agency, along with other related units.

The project focuses on repainting lane dividers spanning more than one kilometer. The work commenced on Wednesday (8/12) night and is slated for completion by the end of today.

"We conducted the work at night to ensure that there would be no disruption to public activities or traffic flow," he clarified.

By so, he urged the public to play their part in preserving the area’s new look by refraining from littering and vandalism.

"Let us work together to protect this tidy and beautiful space. We must not allow irresponsible hands to tarnish the positive image of this location," he noted.

The work above received appreciation from a local resident, Rizky Amin. He admitted, the repainting was essential, as faded lane dividers could make the iconic Jalan Jenderal Sudirman appear neglected.

"It’s a great move. Since it was done overnight, it didn't disrupt the flow of daily commuters at all," he stated.
