Deputy Health Minister Commends Jakarta’s TB Tracking and Free Health Screening Programs

Deputy Health Minister, Benjamin Paulus Octavianus, expressed his appreciation for the Tuberculosis (TB) tracking and Free Health Check (CKG) programs organized by the Jakarta Health Agency.

We laud these efforts by the Health Agency

He voiced his support during a field visit to the program’s implementation site at Jalan Pramuka Sari V, Rawasari, Central Jakarta on Saturday (8/22).

He noted that the inspection aimed to ensure healthcare accessibility reaches every neighborhood.

"We laud these efforts by the Health Agency for making healthcare more accessible and for their ability to track TB patients at the local RW level," he added.

He explained that the tracking initiative aims to identify residents with TB symptoms and protect family members who are vulnerable to transmission.

Once a suspected case is identified, health officers will immediately initiate treatment and conduct health screenings for the entire household.

"We're also evaluating the implementation of Remedi, a high-quality portable and mobile digital radiography system. This medical imaging technology allows for rapid, high-precision diagnosis both in hospitals and directly in the field," he added.

Central Jakarta Vice Mayor, Eric PZ Lumbun highlighted that the TB tracking and Free Health Check (CKG) programs are strategic health sector initiatives designed to reach patients and their families, ultimately striving for a TB-free Jakarta.

He also lauded the Remedi X-ray device for its compact and minimalist design, which allows for high mobility. This portability ensures that lung and abdominal screenings can be conducted anywhere, directly in the heart of the community.

"We're looking forward to the distribution of these X-ray units to every sub-district Health Center (Puskesmas) across the city," he explained.

He hoped that residents suspected of having TB would seek medical examinations for early treatment.

"TB is a treatable and curable disease with the right medical care. It's vital for patients to comply with doctors' recommendations, including consistent medication, proper nutrition, and a healthy way of living," he stated.
