Jakarta Prepares New Home for 193 Roadside Fish Traders

The East Jakarta City administration has confirmed that the designated trading hub for street vendors previously operating along Jalan Raya Bogor is safe and fully prepared for use. The fish traders will be relocated to the Lokbin Kramat Jati, which has recently undergone a complete revitalization.

East Jakarta Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises Sub-agency (PPKUKM) Head, Andi Ahmad Refi stated that the improvements at Lokbin Kramat Jati were conducted to ensure a more comfortable and organized environment for the traders.
"Principally, Lokbin Kramat Jati is now ready to accommodate the fish vendors who traditionally sold their goods along the curbside of Jalan Raya Bogor," he expressed, during a site pinspection, Wednesday (8/26).

"The external infrastructure is being managed by the East Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-agency, while the internal renovations are being handled directly by the site management," he explained.
According to the latest census, there are 193 vendors specializing in fish, shellfish, crabs, and similar seafood products currently operating on Jalan Raya Bogor. The administrarion guarantees that all of them will be accommodated within Lokbin Kramat Jati.
"There're 143 designated kiosks available. However, we will also use the open stall areas to ensure that every single fish trader has a proper place to do business," he added.
To streamline the facility’s new function, existing banana and general commodity traders at Lokbin Kramat Jati will be relocated to Kramat Jati Market. This move allows Lokbin Kramat Jati to serve as a specialized hub dedicated exclusively to fish and seafood trading.
"The refurbishment of the Lokbin area has been underway since last week. Progress has already reached 80%, and we are on track to meet our completion target by the end of this week," he continued.
He added that Lokbin Kramat Jati is now equipped with 16 CCTV surveillance units. This infrastructure is expected to bolster security while providing a sense of safety and comfort for both traders and visitors.
"Through this revitalization, we aim for all fish vendors to conduct their business within the designated zone, ensuring they no longer occupy the roadsides or thoroughfares of Jalan Raya Bogor," he concluded.
