Drainage Normalization on Jalan Mandioli to Be Completed in October

The normalization of the drainage channel on Jalan Mandioli RW 05, Cideng Urban Village, Gambir, carried out by the Central Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency since June 24, is targeted for completion in early October.

The progress reaches 34 percent

Head Section of Drainage Maintenance of the Sub-agency, Citrin Indriati, said the normalization of this 234-meter-long water channel is being carried out using U-shaped concrete channels measuring 60 centimeters in width and 100 centimeters in height.

Jalan Kesehatan III Drainage Upgraded to Prevent Flooding

"We deploy 15 personnel to work on the project. Now the progress reaches 34 percent and is targeted for completion in early October," she said, Friday (8/28).

The channel is being normalized because it had narrowed due to accumulated silt deposits, preventing it from accommodating the water flow at full capacity.

"We are optimistic that the normalization work will reduce the risk of inundation, as the drainage capacity on Jalan Mandioli is greater and better suited to handle rainwater," she added.

Meanwhile, Michael, a local resident, appreciated the sub-agency for responding to residents' requests.

"Thanks to the Central Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency for normalizing the drainage channel, as it was old and filled with mud," he admitted.
