City Council Discusses 2026 Budget Amendments and Child-Friendly City Status

The Jakarta City Council concluded Session Period III of the 2025–2026 legislative year and simultaneously opened Session Period I and Recess Period I of the 2026–2027 legislative year. These proceedings took place during a plenary session of the Council, Monday (8/31).

She outlined a number of activities carried out during the Third Session, which took place from May to August 2026.

These activities encompass the deliberation of draft regional regulations, oversight of the implementation of regional legal instruments, discussion of the 2027 Regional Budget (APBD) Policy Framework and Provisional Budget Ceiling (KUA-PPAS) and the 2026 revised KUA-PPAS, the conduct of legislative recesses, technical guidance, discussion of the 2027 Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD), and the presentation of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK RI) Audit Report (LHP) on the 2025 Financial Statements of the Jakarta Provincial Government.

"The City Council also conducts working meetings of its internal bodies, out-of-region working visits, hearings and meetings with community delegations, as well as "coffee morning" sessions for the leadership and members," she said.

As it enters the First Session Period and First Recess Period of the 2026–2027 legislative year, the Jakarta City Council has established a number of agenda items. These include the deliberation of draft regional regulations; the conduct of recess activities by the leadership and members; technical guidance sessions; discussions on the 2027 DPRD Work Plan; working meetings of the council's auxiliary bodies; official visits outside the region; and deliberations regarding the 2027 Regional Regulation Formation Program (Propemperda).

The City Council has also scheduled the presentation of the Ethics Board Award, an audience and reception for community delegations, and a "coffee morning" for City Council leaders and members.

Following the closing of the Third Session Period, the plenary session proceeded with the delivery of a speech by the Jakarta Governor regarding the Draft Regional Regulation on the Amendment to the Jakarta Regional Budget for the 2026 Fiscal Year and the Draft Regional Regulation on Child-Friendly Regencies/Cities.

According to Ima, discussions on the 2026 Revised Regional Budget are necessary to ensure that budget policies remain responsive to the dynamics and needs of Jakarta's residents. Program and budget adjustments are expected to be targeted, transparent, and accountable, while also focusing on improving public services.

Meanwhile, the draft regional regulation on Child-Friendly Regencies/Cities is expected to strengthen the fulfillment of children's rights and child protection, while simultaneously creating an environment that is safe, healthy, inclusive, and supportive of children's growth and development in the capital city.

"We hope that the deliberation of this draft regional regulation will result in robust regulations that provide the best possible protection and opportunities for all children in Jakarta," she hoped.
