Kramat Jati Overhauls Sidewalks for Shared Convenience"The construction is currently around 60 percent complete and is targeted for completion next Thursday," he noted on Monday (8/31).
He explained that the new facility is intended to improve safety and comfort for pedestrians and motorists using the road.
"I have asked that the sidewalk not be used by street vendors or for other activities that are not in line with its intended purpose," he emphasized.
East Jakarta Public Works Sub-agency Road and Bridge Section Head Akli Naim added that the sidewalk and curb construction involves around 90 Yellow Troops personnel from 10 sub-districts.
"The initial plan was to build a sidewalk and curbs spanning approximately 1,145 meters, from in front of the Yellow Bee Hotel to the front of the Indonesian Army Directorate of Supply and Equipment headquarters," he said.
He explained that field inspections found numerous shops along the route, making it impossible to fully build the sidewalk and curbs as initially planned.
"We conducted an assessment, and the section that can currently be built is 100 meters long. The material used is paving blocks," he said.
