Teenagers in South Jakarta Urged to Stay Away from Drugs and Bullying

The South Jakarta City Government together with the local Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) held a Youth Mosque Insight Briefing in the South Jakarta Community Building Hall, Jalan Ciputat Raya, North Kebayoran Lama Urban Village, Kebayoran Lama District.

The activity was attended by 150 high school students and 20 youth from mosques throughout South Jakarta.

South Jakarta Mayor, Syafrin Liputo expressed his appreciation for the collaboration of the South Jakarta MUI in fostering and protecting the younger generation from the threat of narcotics, psychotropic and addictive substances (NAPZA) abuse, as well as bullying.

"Adolescence is a crucial time for character formation. Drug use is not only a health issue but can also damage your education and future. Never try drugs. You are a strong bulwark towards a Golden Indonesia 2045," he said, Thursday (9/3).

He emphasized the importance of stopping bullying, both in schools and on social media. Bullying can negatively impact victims' mental health and hinder their ability to achieve their goals.

"I want students to maintain prayer, maintain good morals, and obey their parents and teachers. Furthermore, they must instill the values ​​of honesty and service in any future profession," he emphasized.

Meanwhile, Head of South Jakarta MUI, KH Ahmad Nawawi Halim explained the training is part of the Garda Bersinar (Clean from Drugs) movement, designed to protect teenagers and high school students from the dangers of drugs and bullying.

"We continue to utilize this religious building to its full potential for the development of the congregation and students. Hopefully, this will produce a generation of perfect human beings, future leaders who are faithful, pious, knowledgeable, and perform good deeds," he explained.
