Indonesia's first National Beach Games will serve as a training ground for Jakarta athletes from 10 sports ahead of the 2028 National Sports Week (PON) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

"It is not only about sporting achievements and health, but also the economy, education, and various other aspects," he said on Thursday (9/3).
According to Andri, Jakarta is aiming for success in four areas in hosting the Ancol National Beach Games: sporting achievements, event management, administration, and the economy.
"Thankfully, the Jakarta Governor is a sports enthusiast. Jakarta also aspires to become a sports hub that can drive economic activity," he noted.
Jakarta KONI Chair Hidayat Humaid said KONI and the Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency are continuing to finalize preparations for the National Beach Games at Ancol.
"We are optimistic that Indonesia's first National Beach Games will help boost the performance of athletes in 10 sports, enabling Jakarta to be ready to win the overall PON championship in 2028 in NTB and NTT," Hidayat emphasized.
Hidayat expects the event to also boost economic activity among local communities and MSMEs around the venue.
"We also ask Jakarta residents for their prayers and support as we work toward winning the 2028 PON, with Jakarta serving as a supporting province for NTT and NTB," he added.
Jakarta KONI Deputy Chair I Fatchul Anas said preparations for the venues are being finalized in coordination with KONI Central, KONI Jakarta, the Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency, and the respective sports federations to ensure the competition venues are ready.
"We have already conducted site visits to the Ancol National Beach Games venues, namely Festival Beach and Beach Pool, the Lagoon area, and Beach City International Stadium (BCIS)," he pointed.
The 10 sports to be contested at the 2026 National Beach Games are aquatics, open-water swimming, water polo, and 3x3 basketball.
They also include beach volleyball, beach handball, sailing, modern pentathlon, beach rugby, sea diving, teqball, and triathlon.
