Aerial Cables on Jalan Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono IX Removed

As many as 40 joint personnel removed the abandoned aerial cables on Jalan Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono IX, Ujung Menteng, Cakung, East Jakarta.

East Jakarta Assistant for Economic Affairs and Development, Fauzi, said the activity was carried out because the location already had Integrated Utility Network Facilities (SJUT).

"We are removing 792 meters of aerial cables from 17 fiber optic cable owners," he said, Wednesday (9/9).

He explained that unused cables that are still hanging in the air have the potential to endanger drivers and pedestrians.

"All cables that are no longer in use are tidied up so that the area becomes safer and more organized," he explained.

Head of East Jakarta Public Works Sub-agency, Benhard Hutajulu stated his side deployed two ladder trucks to accelerate the removal.

"We also removed around 100 poles in this area to improve the aesthetic," he stated.

He targets that the entire process of cables removal and removing poles can be completed within one month at the latest.

"The activity involved around 40 joint personnel, including from the Telecommunication Network Providers Association (Apjatel)," he added.

He explained that in 2026, there were nine aerial cable locations that were targeted for controlling in East Jakarta.

"Jalan Raya Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono IX is the first location to be handled, while the other eight locations are targeted to be completed this year," he stated.

Meanwhile, Apjatel Jakarta Region 1 Coordinator, Valian Davisi, emphasized his commitment to supporting the Jakarta Provincial Government in controlling aerial cables.

"We will continue to collaborate to organize fiber optic cables to be placed at SJUT," he admitted.
