Residents Appreciate Zebra Crossing as a Solution for Cawang Kompor JPO

Residents appreciate the installation of a zebra crossing on Jalan Dewi Sartika as a solution to the Cawang Kompor Pedestrian Bridge (JPO), Cawang Urban Village, Kramat Jati District, East Jakarta.

A resident of Cawang Urban Village, Anisa (20), said the existence of the zebra crossing is quite helpful for residents who want to cross Jalan Dewi Sartika.

"Due to road widening, the pedestrian bridge at the site does not fully facilitate pedestrian access because access does not extend to the edge of the road on the west side," she admitted, Thursday (9/10).

Meanwhile, another resident, Sawitri (37) said that installing the zebra crossing had been quite helpful because it made drivers more alert when crossing the intersection.

"I wish there were streetlights at the eastern end of the pedestrian bridge. It's quite dark there at night due to the lack of lighting. We women are a bit afraid to cross the road at night because it's dark," she said.

Head Section of Road Traffic for East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency, Prisno Jogiara, explained that the installation of zebra crossings aims to increase the safety and comfort of people crossing the road at the location.

"Regarding the pelican crossing, further study is needed because the location is actually at the traffic light," he explained.
