Pram Targets Cutting Jakarta Stunting to 14%, Commends Posyandu Volunteers

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung praised Posyandu (integrated health service post) volunteers for transforming the city’s public health, crediting their boots-on-the-ground work with helping slash Jakarta’s slum areas from 445 to 211.

Speaking at the 2026 Health-Sector Posyandu Jamboree at The Tavia Heritage in Central Jakarta on Friday (9/11), Pram highlighting their vital role in protecting mothers and children.

"They are working tireless on the front lines, making an extraordinary impact through key health programs," he expressed.

Beyond slashing slum areas, Jakarta’s Human Development Index (HDI) now leads the nation at 85.05, while its Gini ratio has dropped from 0.441 to 0.435.

To maximize the cadres' impact, he instructed the Health Agency to cut Jakarta's stunting rate from 17% down to 14% over the next two years, while aggressively expanding TB contact tracing.

"I’ve requested the Head of the Health Agency to push our stunting rate down to 14% within two years," he explained.

He also called for upgrading to Smart Posyandu to deliver faster, smarter healthcare to residents.

Supporting Jakarta's global city ambition hinges on these local health posts, noted Hani Pramono Anung, Head of Jakarta Posyandu Advisory Team.

As health threats grow more diverse—spanning nutrition, maternal-child health, and stunting—she stressed that local posts must evolve.

"Posyandu needs to stay close, convenient, and responsive to what the community actually needs," she urged.

Hani urged continuous capacity building for cadres, emphasizing they must evolve from event organizers into change-makers who drive healthy family habits—from tracking child development and advocating exclusive breastfeeding to boosting immunization through Smart Posyandu.

She highlighted that achieving these goals requires a unified front joining government, medical staff, cadres, businesses, and local communities.

"Let’s make collaboration our engine to build healthcare that is closer to our citizens and responsive to every family’s needs," she stated.

Meanwhile, Jakarta Health Agency Head Ani Ruspitawati highlighted the essential role of cadres and residents in sustaining public health.

"Posyandu will continue to be a vital link in Jakarta’s healthcare system, bridging services to the community and helping the government make faster, smarter policy choices," she noted.

To back this effort, her agency has implemented Smart Posyandu—a digital upgrade integrating data and tech into local healthcare.

Rather than just tracking infant weight, the platform expands services to early detection, real-time monitoring, public education, and swift medical response.

Currently, roughly 70.44% of the capital's 4,469 Posyandu posts have transitioned into Smart Posyandus. As part of the event, top-performing cadres and health posts were honored with awards for their standout achievements.
