The Jakarta City Council (DPRD) Regional Regulation Drafting Agency (Bapemperda) is pushing for stronger protection of children from bullying, exploitation, and violence in digital spaces through a draft bylaw on Child-Friendly Cities and Regencies.

Jhonny explained that the draft Child-Friendly City bylaw aims not only to protect children but also to ensure that children in the capital have adequate facilities to grow and carry out activities safely.
He noted that Jakarta, as a major city, could set an example for other regions in strengthening child protection and fulfilling children's rights. He added that Bapemperda has discussed around 34 to 35 articles of the draft regulation so far.
Several inputs from Bapemperda members have been collected for evaluation and adjustment to the substance of the bylaw. Jhonny explained that not all inputs need to be incorporated into the draft bylaw, as some may fall under technical matters that can be regulated through a gubernatorial regulation (Pergub).
He is targeting the Bapemperda-level discussion of the draft Child-Friendly City bylaw to be completed next week. So far, discussions have covered around half of the overall material.
"Suggestions from our colleagues can be added, perhaps to certain paragraphs or articles. But they need to be collected first because they have to be evaluated during the discussion.
