Operations of the MV Doulos Hope Ship Library Delayed

The operational schedule of the floating library ship MV Doulos Hope which has arrived in Jakarta will be informed again soon due to delays.

Doulos Hope Managing Director from South Africa, Trizenia September said, the opening to the public which was originally scheduled for Wednesday (9/16) had to be postponed because they are still waiting for the final administrative settlement.

"The shipboard book fair cannot be opened to the public until the entire process is complete. The new opening date will be announced soon," she said, Friday (9/18).

Trizenia explained that once officially opened, visitors can enjoy reading and exploring the book collection aboard the ship. The collection covers a wide range of themes, including science, health, art, language, self-development, hobbies, cooking, sports, children's books, academics, dictionaries, and atlases.

"With a wide range of options available, every family member can find an interesting book to enjoy," she added.

According to her, Doulos Hope is scheduled to be at Tanjung Priok Port until October 11, 2026. However, the opening date is still pending the completion of all necessary permits and official approvals.

The latest information regarding the opening schedule and tickets will be delivered through Doulos Hope Indonesia's official social media accounts on Instagram and Facebook.

"We hope this visit will bring encouragement and hope to the people of Jakarta. We hope Doulos Hope will further strengthen existing relationships and open up opportunities to share knowledge, assistance, and share hope," she hoped.

To visit the ship, she explained, visitors must first check in at the North Jakarta Youth Center (GRJU). Then, visitors can take a shuttle bus to the ship's location in the Tanjung Priok Port area.

"Visiting services are open Tuesday through Sunday from 1:30 PM to 9:00 PM. Visitors may enter the site no later than 8:30 PM. Services are closed every Monday," she explained.

Entrance tickets are priced at Rp 15,000 per person, with cash payment. Children aged 12 and under and seniors aged 65 and over are free of charge.

"Children must still be accompanied by an adult and comply with applicable ticket regulations," she stated.

Meanwhile, Vice Mayor of North Jakarta, Freddy Setiawan said the presence of the Doulos Hope ship is an opportunity for the public to gain new knowledge and experience through books.

"Books are windows to the world. Literacy is an investment in the future. The more young people read, learn, and learn about the world, the greater their chances of becoming creative, innovative, and globally competitive individuals," he stated.
