Aid Distributed to Fire Survivors in Kebayoran Lama Utara

The South Jakarta Social Sub-agency together with the local Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) distributed basic necessities to fire survivors on Jalan Teuku Nyak Arif, RT 05/01, Kebayoran Lama Utara Urban Village, Kebayoran Lama District.

Head of the Sub-agency, Bernard Tambunan said aid ranging from ready-to-eat food, school supplies, to household necessities was immediately distributed to refugee posts after the urban village submitted a request for assistance for fire survivors.

"Since the fire occurred last night, we have been coordinating with all relevant elements regarding the distribution of aid and this morning we have distributed everything to the evacuation posts," he said, Wednesday (9/23).

The food and beverage aid distributed consisted of 200 boxes of rice boxes, 200 bottles of mineral water, 40 packs of coffee, five packs of granulated sugar, 11 goody bags, and 1,200 glasses.

In addition to food needs, the sub-agency also provided school supplies to help meet the needs of children who survived the fire.

The aid consisted of 54 sets of elementary, junior, and high school uniforms, 22 pairs of shoes, 22 pairs of socks, 40 pairs of training pants, and 11 backpacks.

"We also distributed cleaning supplies, including 20 floor brushes, 22 dustpans, and 15 napkins. We also distributed baby supplies, including 12 diapers," he added.

According to him, the South Jakarta Social Sub-agency will continue distributing aid if residents' basic needs are still needed during the emergency response period. Distribution will be based on requests from residents submitted through the urban village office.

"According to the regulation, we are always on standby during emergency response periods, starting from three days onwards," he continued.

Meanwhile, South Jakarta BPBD Platoon Commander, Muhammad Nur, stated that his team was supporting the handling by setting up a refugee tent at the local badminton court.

"This tent is used to accommodate residents who lost their homes due to the fire," he stated.

He explained that the South Jakarta BPBD also distributed additional emergency logistics in the form of 10 boxes of mineral water, 100 boxes of ready-to-eat food, 35 blankets, 35 family kit packages, five clothing packages, 50 tarpaulins, 15 folding mattresses, and 18 packages of kids' ware.

"We hope that this emergency aid package can ease the burden on the survivors and meet their basic needs while they are at the evacuation post," he hoped.
