Sawo Connecting Channel Retaining Wall Repair Reaches 40 Percent

The South Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency is repairing the retaining wall of the Sawo Connecting Canal (PHB) on Jalan Sawo Dalam III in Cipete Utara Urban Village, Kebayoran Baru District. The repairs are now 40 percent complete.

Kebayoran Baru District's Head of Water Resource Unit, Sutopo said the retaining wall repair is carried out because the previous condition was quite worrying.

"The retaining wall has the potential to face landslides when the water volume increases, especially during the rainy season," he said, Monday (9/28).

Sutopo explained that the retaining wall repair is carried out along 88 meters and 350 centimeters high. The work, carried out through a third party, began on August 7, 2026.

"The work is targeted for completion on December 4, 2026. Currently, progress is around 40 percent," he explained.

According to him, the work process faces a number of obstacles because the work location is in an area that is difficult to reach and difficult for vehicles to transport sheet pile repair materials.

"Hopefully, the repair of the retaining wall, which is also an anticipatory measure before entering the rainy season, will be able to deal with the increase in water volume in the channel," he added.

Meanwhile, one of the local residents, Azhar Firdaus appreciated the repair because the condition of the Sawo connecting channel retaining wall was previously untidy and damaged in several places.

"We hope that the work will be completed quickly and of course the retaining wall structure will be sturdy so that it will not be easily destroyed by water erosion," he hoped.
