The East Jakarta Administration began outreach on plans to improve the Cakung-Cilincing (Cacing) road corridor in Cakung Sub-district on Thursday. The project, which will cover both sides of the road, is aimed at creating a greener and more orderly area while improving the function of the drainage system.

East Jakarta Mayor Munjirin said the meeting was an initial outreach effort to inform residents about the planned improvement of the Jalan Cacing area.
Efforts to Prevent Congestion on Cakung-Cilincing Road Optimized"The outreach is intended to inform residents that the East Jakarta Administration will carry out improvements along Jalan Cacing," he said at the Cakung Sub-district Office on Thursday (10/8).
Munjirin explained that the project is aimed at creating a greener and more orderly area. The revitalization of the drainage system is also expected to increase its capacity to help prevent flooding, particularly during heavy rain.
Meanwhile, East Jakarta Deputy Mayor Kusmanto said the area to be improved stretches about 2.8 kilometers. The project will include the development of parks or greenways, as well as the revitalization of drainage channels on both sides of the road.
An estimated 250 households will be affected by the project, particularly those whose structures have been built over drainage channels or on land designated for social and public facilities.
"Areas currently occupied by structures on land designated for social and public facilities will be returned to their intended use, including green spaces and drainage channels," he noted.
Kusmanto assured that the project would take a humane approach, with the East Jakarta Administration providing solutions tailored to the needs of affected residents.
"For those who need housing, public housing will be provided. For those running businesses, business premises will also be prepared. Schooling will also be arranged for those who need it," he said.
East Jakarta Assistant for Government Affairs Bambang Pangestu stressed that the improvement work along Jalan Cacing would be carried out fairly and without discrimination.
"Companies that violate the rules will also be subject to enforcement. However, every process will follow the proper procedures and stages, including this outreach," he asserted.
