Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung outlined the significant development achievements of the Jakarta Provincial Government across various sectors. One of these is reducing the poverty rate to below four percent.
Jakarta is currently experiencing significant improvements
This achievement in reducing the poverty rate is evidence of the Jakarta Provincial Government's performance in managing the economy and public welfare.
Central Jakarta Ramps Up Poverty Reduction Efforts in Four Key AreasThis was conveyed by Pramono when giving a public lecture and inaugurating the Ciputra University Jakarta building in Cengkareng, West Jakarta, Thursday (10/15).
"In all aspects, Jakarta is currently experiencing significant improvements. There's even one aspect that has never been achieved before, the poverty rate. This is the first time Jakarta's poverty rate has fallen below four percent. Previously, it had always been above four percent," said Pramono.
Furthermore, Jakarta's economic growth has also improved, reaching 5.52 percent. Likewise, its inflation rate is the lowest in Java and Bali, at between 2.5 and 2.7 percent.
Despite this, the Jakarta Provincial Government is still working to reduce Jakarta's Gini ratio, which stands at 0.435. This inequality figure remains a challenge for Jakarta to address.
"But there's one thing that's always been a burden for Jakarta, the Gini ratio. Currently, the Gini ratio is 0.435. The Gini ratio is the ratio between the rich and the poor," Pramono added.
Therefore, Governor Pramono prioritized three key programs whose budgets could not be reduced namely education, health, and social support. By strengthening these three sectors, Pramono believes Jakarta's economy will perform well amidst global economic pressures.
"Compared to other regions in the current global economic conditions that are experiencing strong pressure, Jakarta is still able to perform well," Pramono stated.
