Pramono Resmikan Masjid Apung An Nur di Ancol

An-Nur Floating Mosque Opens at Ancol as Jakarta’s Fresh Icon

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung officially inaugurated the An-Nur Jakarta Floating Mosque in the Ancol Beach area, North Jakarta, Friday (10/16).

I continued it until completion and am grateful to be the one who named it

The mosque was first initiated by former Governor Anies Baswedan in 2019. However, hindered by the COVID-19 pandemic, its construction was halted and could only be resumed in May 2024.

“As his successor, I continued it until completion and am grateful to be the one who named it,” he expressed.

Cut Meutia Mosque Revitalization Begins

The An-Nur Floating Mosque is deemed a new symbol for Jakarta in providing space for all community activities, including religious observances.

“Hopefully, the mosque serves as a concrete effort and a clear symbol that diverse life in Jakarta is proceeding harmoniously,” he hoped.

Pram welcomed the completion of long-delayed city projects on his watch, including the floating mosque and the JIS–Ancol pedestrian bridge.

“With this 300-meter link open, Ancol can absorb all event parking—no matter the volume of cars,” he explained.

PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol President Director Syahmudrian Lubis stated that construction of the An-Nur Jakarta Floating Mosque began on May 1, 2024, and wrapped up on July 29, 2026.

This mosque can accommodate up to 600 worshippers—460 men and 140 women—alongside an outdoor plaza that holds an additional 300 people.

“While the mosque is fundamentally a place of worship, it was also envisioned to become a landmark and a proud new icon for Jakarta’s coastal community,” he noted.

Designed as an "Ark of Faith," the mosque features a five-sided layout honoring Islam’s five pillars and daily prayers, while its crescent-and-star silhouette evokes light and celestial guidance.
