Central Jakarta Cleans Up Overhead Cables on Jalan Senen Raya III

Central Jakarta Public Works Sub-agency personnel worked to tidy up one kilometer of dangling overhead cables along Jalan Senen Raya III on Monday (10/19).

Central Jakarta Public Works Sub-agency Head M. Soleh said his team would cut overhead utility cables along several major roads through December.

Overhead Cables Removed Along Jalan HOS Cokroaminoto and Imam Bonjol

"By the end of this year, we will tidy up 15 kilometers of overhead cables across Central Jakarta," he noted.

Soleh explained that his team was working with the Telecommunications Network Providers Association (Apjatel) to gradually remove overhead cables across eight sub-districts.

"In addition to removing the cables, we will also take down the utility poles to ensure no new overhead cables are installed," he added.

Nirwono Joga, the Jakarta Governor's Special Staff for Urban Planning, said removing overhead cables was part of efforts to improve the city's appearance and enhance safety for road users.

He stressed that orderly urban utility management was essential to improving Jakarta's standing on the global stage.

"Hopefully, PLN will also begin moving overhead cables underground in stages as part of these efforts," he said.
