West Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency Action Team Supervisor, Dedi Sumanto, said that this raid involved officers from the West Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency, the Police and the Indonesian National Armed Forces.

Illegal Parking Operation Nets 14 Vehicles in East Jakarta

"Residents have complained about the presence of vehicles parked haphazardly and illegally because it causes traffic jams in the Glodok area," he said.

He explained that of the 107 motorcycles caught illegally parking, 100 were subjected to tire valve removal (OCP) operations. The remaining seven motorcycles were netted and confiscated by officers for further processing.

Dedi emphasized that the grounded sanction was applied because it took up the road shoulder and thus had the potential to trigger traffic jams.

"It is hoped that this illegal parking operation will provide education and a deterrent effect, so that people do not park their vehicles carelessly in the Glodok area," he hoped.

Dedi revealed that several official parking locations are available in the Glodok area. Therefore, he encouraged the public to park their vehicles in the designated locations.

"Glodok is a commercial and tourist area with high mobility. Excessive illegal parking on roads and sidewalks disrupts traffic flow and pedestrian comfort," he emphasized.
