Violate the regulations
Head Section of Governmental of Pondok Pinang Urban Village, Selamet Kobul said this activity was carried out to enforce the Jakarta Provincial Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 8 of 2007 about Public Order.
Jatinegara Satpol PP Controls Street Vendors Occupying Public Facilities"It is our effort to create a comfortable and safe environment for residents," he said.
He explained that the operation, which involved personnel from the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) and Public Infrastructure and Facilities Management (PPSU) officers, targeted more than 10 street vendors who often sold on the roadside, especially in the morning.
"Officers confiscated several items belonging to vendors, including one umbrella and six chairs. The confiscation of these items served to enforce the regulations and to act as a deterrent to vendors who continue to violate the regulations," he explained.
Selamet emphasized that the enforcement was carried out persuasively, prioritizing a humanistic approach. Vendors were given warnings and appeals not to return to locations that disrupt public order.
"We urge and give them a warning not to repeat it again," he added.
Meanwhile, a local resident, Guntur, stated that the presence of street vendors in the morning often disrupts traffic. This is because buyers' vehicles parked on the roadside often cause congestion and impede the smooth flow of traffic.
"I hope that the activity can be carried out routinely so that environmental conditions remain orderly, comfortable and conducive for the community," he hoped.
