The Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Agency is developing the Penganten Ali Retention Basin on Jalan Penganten Ali III, RW 06, Ciracas Urban Village, Ciracas Sub-district, East Jakarta. Covering approximately 0.9 hectares, the basin is designed to strengthen flood control, support environmental conservation, and provide green open space for the public.

"In addition to helping control flooding, the basin is being developed as a conservation reservoir to support water management and maintain the ecological quality of the surrounding environment. We also want it to serve as a public space where nearby residents can exercise, socialize, and enjoy recreational activities," he said on Tuesday (10/27).
To support these functions, the project includes various facilities, such as viewing platforms, bridges, community access gates, seating areas, shelters, a main entrance gate, public toilets, a security post, a waste-shredding facility, and an excavator ramp.
He said the facilities were designed to support the basin's operation while making the area more comfortable for public use.
"Various facilities have been provided so the public can enjoy the basin area for a range of activities," he added.
Under the Green-Education-Recreation concept, Ikhwan hoped the basin would provide space for recreation, exercise, environmental education, and community interaction, while supporting conservation and improving residents' quality of life.
"Through this project, the Jakarta SDA Agency hopes the Penganten Ali Retention Basin will function optimally as a water storage facility, a groundwater conservation area, and a safe, inclusive green open space," he said.
