The Jakarta Provincial Government, through the Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda), is offering waiver of administrative penalties for late payments of Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) and Motor Vehicle Ownership Transfer Fees (BBNKB) from November 2 to December 31, 2026.
from November 2 to December 31, 2026
The waiver applies to taxpayers who pay their outstanding taxes within the period.
Jakarta Waives Motor Vehicle Tax Fines and Title Transfer FeesThe policy was established under Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency Head Decree No. e-0022 of 2026 on the Automatic Waiver of Administrative Penalties for Motor Vehicle Tax and Vehicle Ownership Transfer Fee, issued on October 28, 2026.
Jakarta Bapenda Head Lusiana Herawati said the policy was intended to give residents greater flexibility in settling their motor vehicle tax obligations without adding to their financial burden, taking into account their different circumstances and needs.
"The government understands that people have various priorities in their daily lives, which can sometimes affect their ability or opportunity to meet their tax obligations on time," she said on Wednesday (11/4).
Lusiana explained that the policy reflected the government's commitment to building a more responsive and people-centered tax service system.
She said residents would have an opportunity to get their tax obligations back on track without incurring administrative penalties for late payment or settlement of outstanding taxes, in accordance with the provisions of the decree.
The administrative penalty waiver is granted automatically, meaning taxpayers do not need to submit an application. Under the third provision of Regional Revenue Agency Head Decree No. e-0022 of 2026, the waiver is implemented through adjustments to the regional tax management information system.
"More than just administrative relief, this policy is expected to give residents an opportunity to get their tax obligations back on track while reinforcing awareness that local taxes are a shared contribution to Jakarta's development," she added.
Lusiana noted that taxes paid by residents play an important role in funding various development and public service needs, including infrastructure, transportation, education, healthcare, and public facilities that benefit the community.
Bapenda has urged residents with outstanding Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) and/or Motor Vehicle Ownership Transfer Fee (BBNKB) obligations to take advantage of the waiver before December 31, 2026.
She added that residents could check information about their tax obligations through Bapenda's official channels and use the available payment channels.
"Through this policy, the Jakarta Provincial Government hopes more residents will be able to settle their tax obligations, improve administrative compliance, and contribute to the city's development," she said.
